Process engineering machines

The development of process engineering machines is usually strongly product-related and industry-specific, i.e. special machines are developed for the respective application based on a task formulated in terms of process engineering and materials. The challenge in the design lies in the often complex loads due to mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses. Research at the IMW therefore focuses on the development of basic principles for the design and process-oriented execution of process engineering machines from a strength-oriented, material-oriented and production-oriented design perspective. Individual research topics include

  • Recycling machines, in particular for the dismantling process of old appliances
  • AI-supported methods for the development of a new type of compressor
  • Apparatus elements
  • Production machines for process engineering manufacturing processes
  • Design and safety rules for machines in the medical and food industries
  • Design rules for hygienic design
