Biomechanics Lab
The Biomechanics Lab at the IMW offers the opportunity to investigate the relationship between a subject's physiological performance and the mechanical power output. For this purpose, a self-constructed ergometer is available in which, in addition to the usual saddle height adjustment, the horizontal distance from the handlebars and saddle to the crank as well as their height can be individually adjusted.
The range of analysis options:
- Measurement of normal stresses and torsion on the handlebars and saddle
- Recording of mechanical performance
- Ergospirometry to measure respiratory volume and respiratory gas composition under different loads
- Electrocardiogram to measure the performance of the heart under stress
